September 5, 2011. After ten years, Salsa Rueda Santa Cruz (SRSC) of Santa Cruz, California, ended on August 30, 2011. A new era is born with SalsaGente.
Over ten years, SRSC introduced hundreds of people to the fun and community of dancing salsa in the Rueda. The group gave 95 public performances, including parades, festivals, and community fundraisers.
SRSC was honored to receive the Calabash Award for Excellecne in Ehtnic Arts, in 2004.
Former students of SRSC formed their own Rueda dance groups in Santa Cruz and Watsonville, making this area a mini "hot spot" for Rueda dancing within the Bay Area.
